Early Voting

Citizens, early voting in North Carolina has begun, and you have an opportunity to Register And Vote same day during ‘Same Day Registration’ period, Wednesday October 17th through Saturday November 3rd at specified early voting locations only. Polls open generally from 7:00 a.m. to 7 p.m. during the week. When open for the weekend,  counties may offer half day options for Early Voting. For Charlotte North Carolina’s largest county, Mecklenburg, Saturday hours are October 27 from 10-5 p.m. and  Saturday November 3rd from 8-1 p.m. The only Early Voting opportunity for Mecklenburg County on a Sunday is October 28 from 1-4 p.m.

Election Day is Tuesday, November 6th. Polls open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. You must vote at your Precinct’s assigned voting location on this day.

During the One-Stop Early Voting or Absentee Voting period there are additional voting location options. Any North Carolina Registered Voter can vote in person at any of the Early Voting locations in their county for their convenience. Voters are not restricted to voting at their designated Precinct, which is required on Election Day. Confirm specific times in your local county with One-Stop Site Lookup link below.

During this voting period, voters also have the option to change their name or address if applicable.

Same Day Registration

Individuals who are not registered in a county have an opportunity to register at any of the One-Stop or Early Voting locations during the early voting period. Once registered, the newly-registered voter can immediately vote at that same one-stop site.

Note: Same-day registrants must attest to their eligibility and provide proof of residence. A voter attests to their eligibility by completing a Voter Registration Application and affixing his/her signature.
