NO SURPRISES- WASSERMAN-SCHULTZ, MCCAIN, RUBIO, AND MURPHY TAKE TUESDAY PRIMARIES

No surprises, Wasserman-Schultz, McCain, Rubio, and Murphy take Tuesday Primaries for their respective states, Florida and Arizona with virtual ease, beating out their opponents to move on to the General Election November 8, 2016 in their final bid for these coveted congressional seats. All are incumbents except Democratic Candidate Patrick Murphy, and have built a solid history and name recognition with their constituents, which is half the battle. Senator Marco Rubio’s chances may have been elevated by his contrast to his opponent Carlos Beruff’s political positions, and their alignment to Trump. Warranted or not, controversy seems to surround the Presidential Republican Nominee. Fresh in the news cycle is the highly inappropriate racially rooted cartoon image of Hillary Clinton in blackface, sent via ‘Twitter’ by Trump’s closely connected surrogate Pastor Mark Burns. These type of ever present news cycles, acts like a tornado that touches all of Trump’s political ties. Beruff may have just been the latest to be caught up in the whirlwind. As predicted, Rubio will now be facing Murphy in the General Election.  Latest polls show Rubio currently has a lead over Democratic opponent Murphy, 44% to 39%, but anything could happen in this political climate and with a Primary win, Murphy has gained greater recognition and has plenty of time to catch up to Rubio to win the November Election.

Incumbent Senator John McCain has a comfortable lead in Arizona; however, his  Democratic opponent Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick is positioned to give him a run for his money, as much has been made over the years about McCain’s age, and potential health issues. In 2008 U.S. News reported his surgery to remove Stage IIA melanoma in 2000. McCain just turned 80 years old, and while Faccheck.org reported a man McCain’s age will live an average of 88.2 years,  some voters may consider being over 80 an issue, and may be looking for a fresh face.

Debbie Wasserman-Schultz claims a sweet victory in Florida Primary over her opponent Tim Canova, hand picked by Senator Sander’s ‘Our Revolution’ movement, and is closer to keeping her seat as Congresswoman. As an outspoken surrogate and long time supporter of the Democratic Presidential Nominee, Hillary Clinton, this is a win for both, in a state that will play a critical role in securing and supporting a Dem Presidency. Unlike Donald Trump’s surrogates, Clinton’s camp seems to stay on message, or that is to say, they have a message, and consistently convey policy and position to ensure voters are crystal clear on what they can expect from this party. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz offers a heart-felt statement to her Florida constituents and voters after her projected win on Tuesday, “You can in America, use government as a catalyst to improve peoples lives”. As a citizen, voter, and American, that statement pretty much sums it up. No matter your political affiliations, ethnicity, social status, or Faith, her message speaks to the most simplistic of aspirations and expectations one has of their government for their lives. Make it better.
